Ranking Member Thompson, Committee Democrats Commemorate Border Patrol 100th Anniversary
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement commemorating the 100
“Today, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Border Patrol. It is important that we honor the service and sacrifices of the men and women of Border Patrol and their families, past and present. Since its creation, Border Patrol agents have shown commitment and dedication to safeguarding our Nation by securing and protecting our borders.
“Today, we thank the nearly 20,000 agents currently protecting the 6,000 miles of international land borders and 2,000 miles of coastal waters. We also celebrate the agents who came before them and the families who endure great sacrifices and provide unwavering support to those who serve.”
Ranking Member Thompson was also joined by Reps. Lou Correa, Sheila Jackson Lee, Seth Magaziner, Shri Thanedar, Tom Suozzi, Tim Kennedy, Eric Swalwell, Troy Carter Sr., and Dan Goldman in introducing H. Res. 1261, a House Resolution commemorating the Border Patrol centennial and honoring the service and sacrifices of the men and women of the Border Patrol.
